Information we collect

The Contact form is the only public feature on this website that currently collects personal information. When you use it, we collect your name, email address, enquiry topic, message and your confirmation of the privacy statement shown with the form.

The public website does not currently collect newsletter registrations, payment or donation information, public user accounts, public file uploads, advertising identifiers or analytics profiles.

Why we use this information

We use Contact form information to receive and respond to enquiries, manage correspondence with the person contacting us, route enquiries appropriately within the organisation and maintain an appropriate record of correspondence where necessary.

Depending on the enquiry, our lawful basis will usually be our legitimate interest in responding to and managing correspondence, taking steps requested by you before entering into an agreement, or meeting a legal obligation. Where we specifically ask for consent, you may withdraw it at any time. The confirmation checkbox helps us make sure you understand how the information will be used; it is not necessarily the sole legal basis for every enquiry.

Where information is processed

Contact form submissions are stored securely in Lovable Cloud. Contact details and messages are also processed through the website’s transactional email service, which sends a notification to spellingallianceireland@gmail.com so that we can respond.

Service providers supporting the website, hosting and email delivery process information on our behalf as needed to provide those services. We do not claim that all processing takes place only in Ireland or the European Economic Area.

How long we keep information

Contact form submissions stored by the website are automatically deleted after 12 months. Information may be retained separately for longer where it forms part of an ongoing matter, is needed to meet a legal obligation, or is necessary as an organisational record. This means that copies held in ongoing correspondence or appropriate records may not be deleted at exactly the same time as the original website submission.

Website logs and security

Website hosting and service providers may process ordinary technical information such as IP addresses, browser or device information and timestamps for security, reliability and operational purposes. We do not use this information to build visitor profiles or for advertising.

The staff-only Content Library uses an essential secure session cookie to authenticate authorised administrators. It is not used to track public visitors. You can read more in our Cookie policy.

Social media links

This website links to the Alliance’s pages on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. It does not currently embed social feeds, tracking pixels or social-media tracking widgets. Information is shared with a social platform only when you choose to follow a link to it, and the platform’s own privacy policy then applies.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing and receive portable data where applicable. Where processing genuinely relies on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

These rights depend on the circumstances and may be subject to legal limits. To make a request, email spellingallianceireland@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.

Children’s information

The website does not provide public accounts or other features designed to collect personal information directly from children. If you contact us about a child, please share only the information needed for us to understand and respond to your enquiry.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website’s functionality or our data-processing practices change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
